White Pitchers

I love vintage white pitchers, I think most all of you do too.
I finally started collecting them this last spring and this is what I have...so far. They are terribly addicting!
In my last post for White Wednesday I mentioned that I cleared them off the dining room table and moved them onto the coffee table...temporarily. They are so pretty here that they will stay for awhile. The sun shines on them just right, I love how they look in this spot...until I find a permanent place for them. The vintage silver tinsel is still draped on them for awhile, gives them that New Year's Holiday look.

The smaller pitcher below, with the tinsel draped on it, is the most recent addition and it is my favorite. I love the shape and the slightly aged look it has.
I just love them all!

Happy White Wednesday!

Pink Christmas

Another simple post...Everyone is so busy this time of year so I'm keeping it short and simple.
A little stitchery I made several years ago...

My new...not vintage...tinsel tree with pink vintage mercury balls and a handmade tin star.

I had to clear my pitchers off the dining room table so they are on the coffee table for now, of course I couldn't let the pretty pink impatiens freeze this fall so they are in the living room. It unexpectedly turned out kind of pretty with the pink flowers, white pitchers and silver tree with pink balls!

As you can see it's still snowing out there. We have a couple of feet on the ground and more is coming.

Yes, those are elk antlers between the flowers and pitchers and the little table and chair set the tree sits on was my brother and sisters and then mine and I'm so glad I saved it.
I'll save my close up pitcher pictures for next week....

Glitter House

My White Wednesday will be an easy post this week.

I'm sitting at Sky Harbor in Phoenix waiting for my flight back to snowy Minnesota. I'll be boarding the plane in beautiful 80 degree sunshine and palm trees and landing in sub zero temps according to my husband. You are asking why I would choose to do this!!! Insanity I guess. I really do not want to leave warm sunny southern Arizona and I'm whining....
*************

I love the old Putz houses but I don't own any...yet..... I saw this at a Christmas sale this year. I know it's not old and it's quite a bit larger than the vintage Putz houses but it's well made and fun. It's a beginning....

Vintage Glass Christmas Balls

I've started collecting the the old mercury glass Christmas ball ornaments. I like the 1" size and smaller and in all colors, the more aged the better.
I find old glass or silver dishes and place them around the living room. They look so pretty and colorful. I'll mix certain colors together that I like or all of one color but different shades and sizes. Maybe a little old tinsel garland or glass beaded garland.
I've gathered most of them all together and set them on an old children's table set in the sun to photograph.

I like to leave some of them in their original boxes...

I can't seem to get enough of them!!

Spanish Architecture

I'm on a short vacation in a little town called Ajo, Arizona. I was sitting under a pretty tree at the Plaza the other evening and the lighting was so perfect on this old church. Of course I didn't have my camera and I knew by the time I ran back to get it, the lighting would be gone. I walked over there today and even though the light wasn't the same it was still pretty.
This old Spanish style church was built in 1924.

Tipp Shakers

I like the old Tipp City shakers. Both my mom and my grandma had a set of salt & pepper shakers and I managed to save them but my favorite pattern is the cattails. While searching for a cattail set I found this cute little sugar shaker...

This larger pair belonged to my mom, I still use them...

This set belonged to my grandma and they sit beside my moms pair...

And unexpectedly sitting on a bottom shelf in an antique shop last winter I spotted this!

Just what I was looking for, the set of 4 with the carrier. They look like they have never been used. Not a chip or scratch anywhere. I guess if you have patience eventually you will find what you are looking for. I could have bought a set online but I missed out, they were not as nice as these yet still the same price. I'm very happy I missed them after all because I have these instead!

Turkeys for white wednesday...

Look who showed up just in time for Thanksgiving!
Turkeys in the snow. (I hope that qualifies for 'white'.)

He's also a peeping Tom!

Happy Thanksgiving!
(no turkeys were harmed in this production)

Wild Roses and Bluebirds

It's been one of those days where you run around all day and feel like you get nothing accomplished so my White Wednesday post is a quick and easy one today.

I like heavy plates with pretty designs. I found this at a flea market for $2.00. I like it because it's a little rough, crazed and aged. I think the flowers are beautiful.

I found this at a sale and again it's pretty well worn but I just love Bluebirds and decided it needed a home.

This plate sits on the bathroom vanity holding a couple of ring holders and odd things.

Thanks for stopping!

Salt & Pepper Shakers

I was looking around the house for something to post for Tete's 2nd Hand Collections Party and I spotted a few of my salt & pepper shakers and thought this will work. I started taking pictures and discovered I had a few more than I thought.

I've never really considered collecting shakers, some of these were in my husbands family but most I picked up in an antique shop just because they caught my eye.

My favorite is this kangaroo because to me it is so unusual. I didn't buy it the first time I saw it and it stuck in my mind after I left. When I went back to the shop months later and it was still there I decided it needed to come home with me.

I like the fish...
I have always had a thing for donkeys, I picked this up in an antique shop. The 2 little chickens on his back are the shakers...

I also have a thing for longhorn cattle, couldn't walk away from these...

The pheasants were from my husbands Grandparents...

And another donkey...

Once I gathered all the shakers together for photos I decided they should all be in one place so here they are...

A little bit of heavy wet snow!

This is what we woke up to this morning! I guess it's that time of year and there is no stopping it. Everyone loves the first snowfall. This was a heavy and very wet snow.
Every time we get our first snowfall I grab my camera and warm clothes and I trudge through the snow and take pictures.

This is our driveway, somewhere under all that wet stuff...It was so wet that most of the trees are bending and many of the tops of the pine trees snapped off....

Further down the driveway in the pines....a little water on the lens as now it was starting to rain...
The 1931 Model A 'lawn ornament'.....

The old 1938 Chevy 'lawn ornament'....
Yes, I love all junk and even these old cars and trucks look cool to me.

And it's still snowing out there, they are saying we'll get 10 inches of the white stuff.

Added later.....For those of you who are asking where this is....This is Minne-SNOW-ta!
You bet'cha, we are always prepared for anything that has to do with SNOW! Eh?

White Box Makeover

I picked up a cheap small black box at the thrift store last week.

I have a thing for those little cream bottles from many years ago. My mom would take me shopping downtown and we would always eat our lunch at some nice restaurant. Back when I was really little they served your coffee with little bottles of real cream. I can remember drinking the cream out of the little bottle. So when I started finding these small bottles I started to buy them. I don't care if the dairy name is painted on it...I prefer just the plain bottles.

When I spotted this box I thought it had the perfect size cubby holes to hold the cream bottles filled with vintage pearls, rhinestones, mop buttons, little mini skeleton keys and bits of old fancy lace.

I just finished painting it today with an ivory white and lightly sanded the edges. It sits on top of an old doily my Grandma crocheted along with a little vanity jar that was my moms.

And here is what the box used to look like!
