I can't seem to post more often than once a week, I have good intentions but somehow the weeks just fly by, especially now that it's summer and I want to be out in my flower garden as much as I can.
For the White Wednesday portion of this post....
While out rummaging through antique shops I found this pretty little Fostoria sugar bowl that just called out to me. I thought it would be cute holding old mop buttons
I don't usually use blue in my home but I couldn't pass this by.
And for the rest of my post....the weekend garage sale finds...
I stopped at a lot of sales and completely struck out until the very last sale, closest to my home.
The woman was selling some of her Victorian things and this mourning parasol caught my eye immediately.
She's a little tattered, the silk lining is shredding and the lace around the edges is starting to tear a little bit but she's over 100 years old!
That lovely burgundy color lining!
It's a piece of history to me and I just had to give it a home, it was cheap too!
It opens and closes like it was brand new and the handle is in perfect condition.
She also had this old hat stand and it was just what I was looking for plus the vintage picture with curved glass. How can people throw away their relatives like this!!!
And lastly, Mr. Wild brought home his new toy today, his 1930 Ford Model A.
This is his weakness....
Can you believe this car has only 35,000 miles!
Yup, she runs beautifully!
Mr. Wild bought his first Model A when he was 14, he knows his cars and this car is solid and sound, a real prize for car collectors.
We'll be going for a ride tomorrow for sure! Maybe he'll take me out for ice cream.
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteEverything you bought would have followed me home too. The parasol is gorgeous! AND I agree, I do not know HOW people part with those old photos...
Have a FUN WEEK, I know you will, you'll be OUT SAILING IN the new FORD!

Faye,
ReplyDeleteI have blues mixed with whites in my home. That cute little sugar bowl would fit right in. Have fun touring in the snappy Ford!
AWESOME car! Love the old frame and it does surprise me when folks sell their family photos.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your ice cream.
Deb
Parasoles are precious, look like Civil War with the short handle, love the sugar bowl, so simple, I have to do that!
ReplyDeleteLove that parasol. My hubby is drooling over the car.x
ReplyDeleteLove your finds, but the car is gorgeous. I can just picture you riding around town in that. Are they hard to drive? I'm thinking they wouldn't have power steering and modern brakes?
ReplyDeleteLove all of your new found treasures. The ford is pretty nice, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Michele
Waooo I love that Car, and it looks so new and shiny, just as if it was a 2012 model hehehe. Very lucky to have such a car, congratulations.
ReplyDeleteFantastic car - should be lovely to take for an ice cream run. I always feel bad when I read how shocked people are to see old photos for sale. I am the last in my family on my mothers side and have inherited many fabulous family photos in gorgeous antique frames. My son wants no part of them - he doesn't know any of the people and finds it creepy that I like all of these old, deceased souls. I know when I pass, these will all end up in an auction or garage sale, so sometimes we the owners of these family portraits have no choice or say in what happens to them. I just hope the new owners will cherish them as much as I have.
ReplyDeleteBoys & their toys! That parasol belongs with that neat old jittney! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! when you guys go antique hunting, you don't mess around!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun going for a ride tomorrow.
xxoo

Hi Faye, well you hit a soft spot for me, especially because it's almost Father's Day. My dad collected antique cars and I grew up with them. this is a real beauty. I'll be featuring this post on VIF thursday. Thanks so much for linking up to the party!
ReplyDeleteLove the car! Looks like Jack and Rose's car in Titanic! Thank you for joining me at Home Sweet Home!
