More Chippy White Paint for White Wednesday!

We went shopping at Auntie Q's Antique shop last Saturday in Cody Wyoming and this is what I bought!
I've wanted a really neat architectural piece for ages but never see just the right piece and I drool over all the pretty ones I see on everyone's blogs.
I spotted this one and I knew it was a match made in heaven!!!
The shop owner told me it came from a porch in Missouri and this was the last piece.
It was one of the sides of the porch.
That is 'authentic' Wyoming dirt and weeds in the background...LOL!

They sure don't make wood trim with such detail anymore. I love the scrolls, the points and the round ball at the bottom of it all.

Now....which side do I hang facing out?
This side with more chippy white paint OR....

....this side with less chippy white paint?

At first when I found this I liked this side the best. Now that I have it here I think I like the side with more white chippy paint!

Whichever I decide....I'm so happy I gave in and bought it. Sometimes it's better to buy one big item than a lot of little items....this is all I bought that day and I'm soooo glad I did!

(This is my birthday present to me...it's my birthday today and sometimes that's the only way you get what you really want!!!)

Thanks again to Faded Charm for another White Wednesday!

Vintage White Stove for White Wednesday

My new stove.....
This is a 1948 Montgomery Wards gas stove.
My husband found it on Craig's List for a steal...$40!
I love all that chrome!
It's all there and in working condition and was just converted from natural gas to propane.
Complete with owner's manual.
It's has a temporary home in the pole barn for now until we move it into the bunkhouse.

Isn't that light fixture neat!

Pretty Bling!

I was visiting one of my favorite Etsy shops, UnfinishedBusiness the other day and the package just came in the mail! I had to show them off, I think they are so pretty! I plan to use them as little embellishments on different projects.

Of course I can't get the 'bling' to sparkle in my photograph like Theresa can but it really does sparkle nicely!

Flowers

I've been busy as a bee... I thought I'd go through some of my photos and see what I could find for today. I'm surpised I have so many white flowers...there were so many more that I left out!
Just a few of my garden flowers for White Wednesday....

Patterns

This White Wednesday I thought I would pay tribute to our Grandmother's and Great Grandmother's, probably Great Great Grandmother's too, who made all of the lovely crochet bedspreads, runners doilies, etc.

To think they would sit there for hours in dim light and work with this fine crochet thread and a teeny hook and make beautiful huge bedspreads!

Here are just a few close-ups from my ever growing stash. Some were made by my Grandmother and many were purchased. I tend to hoard these pieces when I see them for sale for fear someone will buy them to cut apart, at least while I'm alive they will remain whole.
Such pretty patterns!

I have always appreciated this fine work but even more so now that I'm attempting to do it!
This is my first little flower using vintage size 30 thread and a size 11 hook.

I never in my wildest dreams thought I could crochet with a teeny hook and that fine thread but I LOVE it! I will certainly never make a huge bedspread or a runner but maybe a doily some day!

Right now the flowers are making me happy.

Thank you Faded Charm!

Birch Bark

One of my favorite things besides chippy white paint is Birch Bark.
As I was sitting in our screen porch I was admiring the Birch trees nearby and it dawned on me Birch Bark would make a good White Wednesday so I started thinking of what I have around the house that is made of or has Birch Bark on it.
A Birch tree...of course!

A little basket made of Birch Bark

Two little Birch Bark canoes that I've had since I was a kid. We'd spend some of our weekends at my Grandma's cabin on Bay Lake in Minnesota. I couldn't wait to stop at the souvenir shop in Milaca and that is where these two canoes came from. One still has the price written on it in pencil. It was .40 cents.

A birdhouse I picked up several years ago....showing it's age but it has Birch Bark on the roof. I thought it was a fun idea!

A little Birch Bark birdhouse nick nack...

And I saved my very favorite for last....this little old book in perfect shape that I picked up years ago in an antique store in Iowa. It was one of those finds that I clung onto dearly while looking around the shop. I don't know how many times while growing up that I heard my mother say "On the shores of Gitche Gumee....." I believe the Indian name for Lake Superior is Gitche Gumee (goo-me)...anyway...there is Birch Bark on the cover...back cover too!

Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment....I enjoy reading each and evey one!

Flea Market Finds

Here's some of the treasures I picked up at the flea market last week....Everything in this 1st photo...except the lamp...was $1 each! Not all were found at the same booth either. I don't know why I got so lucky because that's never happened before. The lamp was under $10. I saw it before I walked into the booth, grabbed it and never set it down until it went in the car. Even the mirror was $1...the price tag is still on it....

I love the roses on the lamp! I've been looking for just the right old lamp to sit on a beautiful and very old table that was my mothers which sits between 2 neat old chairs that still have their original upolstery. I found them in Cody, WY a couple of years ago. Now the hard part...to find the right lampshade.

To me the acorn finial is worth what the lamp cost alone!

Love these old metal chairs. I like the look of this one well enough I'm not so sure I'll let the husband paint it.

Ahhh yes, another pully to add to the pullys that I've been collecting for years. I've never seen one like this. My husband says there was one in the old barn when we sold the old place...if I had known.....
This was the first thing I found and my husband offered to buy it for me...what a nice guy!
