We're packin' up to head back.
Time to leave Wonderful Wyoming and the big open blue skies.
One of the things I hauled out here this time are my moms old luggage set.
She's had these since I can remember and I always thought they were neat when I was a kid. Sure glad I hung on to them now that old suitcases have become so popular.
The key to the locks is still hanging on the right of the bottom suitcase. And the insides are so cool...sure don't make them like that anymore!
Since we have no real 'home' here yet, an old trunk and horse corral had to do as a backdrop.
Missing the cover of one latch but I happened to pick another train case up years ago in a junk shop and some day I'll get Mr. Wild to fix up my mom's train case.

What a treasure. I have a set that were my MIL's. They are red and have her monogram stamped on. I'm visiting from Wow Us Wednesday and am a new follower. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhat beauties they are...and in the perfect shade of white! Lucky you~ Thanks for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteBlessings & hugs,
Karen
I am so glad you posted this. I have my mom's overnight case(top one) just like this one you have. We always used it to go on vacation when I was a kid and I have it now. We did not have the larger ones.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if mom and dad ever had the set, by the time I came along, we had a couple big old brown ones. They bought me a red and black plaid one with green stamps, which I used in my room to store my teen magazines in,
It is sure nice to see what the larger ones look like.
Your photos make me smile. You have a pickin' cool style!
ReplyDeleteMy mom had these in blue! :) I kept the train case. :) These are perfectly shabby already!

Samsonite, I believe. They do look familiar.
ReplyDeleteHope you will attend the Potpourri Friday party again this week!
Beautiful! I have some that belonged to my grandparents with their names still on the name plates. I have them in the living room if you were to look inside you would find trinkets, odd things from their home and my grandfathers bible. Love special things such as this.. thanks for sharing.

My mom has the same exact ones...now I need to go up in the attic and see if we still have them hiding up there!
ReplyDeleteOhhh Faye...why didn't I keep my Gramma's turquoise set just like yours?!!!!

Isn't it great when something that has Sentimental Value and we held onto now becomes a killer on trend Collectible that others will now appreciate too? I recently inherited some of my Parent's Old Luggage & Footlockers that I remember us traveling the World with like Gypsies as we moved every 18 months while Dad was Active Military... I cherish them and now can incorporate them into fab vignettes and much needed storage! Loving your Mom's set, such a beautiful Color.

These are great! My Nanny has a set of green ones. My sister lucked up with them though. Thanx for coming to the party! Hope your week is going well!
ReplyDeleteLove the suitcases, I used to have a green one growing up, wish I still had it. Great pictures, Laura Cottage and Broome

Calling by to visit your blog for the first time as I am also a participant in 2805 Potpourri Friday. I have enjoyed your post today, love the suitcases.
ReplyDeleteIt's just terrific that you have a matching set in a really nice color! Makes them extra special that they belonged to your Mother!
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that you linked to Potpourri Friday. Your participation certainly makes the party more successful, Faye . I appreciate you! I hope you will make this one of your regular stops each week!
Ohhh, I adore vintage suitcases. Your mum's have so much character...your very lucky to have them :)

The cover of Flea Market Style has vintage suitcases used as shelves. I'm sure you'd never consider altering your mom's suitcases, but it's something to think about if you come across some others....
ReplyDeleteVery nice that you have these from your mom. I wish I had saved my moms suitcase. Suitcases of today are very disposabe. I seem to be buying them every few years. They are not built to last. Its great to still have the key. Such a nice treasure to have.
