Happy Spring!

I'm about a week late!

First I want to say thank you to all the sweet bloggers that left a comment when my dad passed away.
People I don't even know left such kind words. Bloggers really are the best!!!
Thank you!

My way of dealing with loosing someone close is to get out of town for a while.
Mr. Wild agreed to a 5 day road trip to Missouri. We followed the Mississippi River through Iowa into Missouri and stopped at every river town we could find. Taking pictures of the beautiful old buildings.

We brought our pick-up camper and camped at state parks along the way, mostly along the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. We had a little rain the first 2 days but after that the sun came out, we had perfect weather on top of seeing the wild Redbuds in bloom...something we don't have in Minnesota...I love them!

We stopped at every antique store that was open, I'll save the fun things I found for later.

For those of you that live in Missouri, I just love your state! I usually end up in MO at least 2 times a year and have my favorite antique shops.

For 4 years in a row I attended a rug hooking workshop in the old historic town of Arrow Rock, Missouri where the Santa Fe Trail began. There is a ton of history in this quaint little town and I have always wanted Mr. Wild to see it.

One of the shop owners that I knew 10 years ago was still in business and I picked up this pretty cloche...the bonus was the artificial hyacinths that came with it.

I just unpacked it and put it out for the spring season and I think it's so pretty in front of the old door.

Happy Spring!
Thanks for stopping!!!

My Dad....

Just wanted to say thank you for so many nice comments over the last couple of weeks.

My dad passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home yesterday morning, just as he wanted...painless and still alert and. He was sitting up less than 2 days before playing cards with my girlfriend and myself and won 3 out of 6 games, his 98 year old body went downhill so quickly all of a sudden but not his mind.

I haven't been in the mood to write back or to visit any blogs. I did do a post earlier this week just to try to keep my mind off things.

I'll be back in a week or so.

Thanks....

I need a name!!!!

An unexpected treasure!
Last Saturday I took a day off, Mr. Wild and I stopped in one of my favorite local antique shops in a small Mississippi River town. Way in the back of the store was a new vendor with a couple of dress forms.

I've always wanted one but never planned to buy a vintage one until I saw this one!

She was very reasonably priced, clean and straight, a few small holes that look like moth holes in the fabric but being at least 80 years old, who wouldn't be a little moth-y!

I cannot get a good picture of her pretty rhinestone brooch but you sort of can see it...

And a crochet edged shawl...

She has nice cast iron feet with some detail, which of course again doesn't show up very well.

Mr. Wild dug out an old 1936 Sears catalog and found a similar dress form in there

I thought it might be interesting to see a picture of the catalog page. It's so close, mine is an Acme but they have the same old heavy cast iron base (the one with the skirt has the fancy legs in the catalog) that tells me she has to be from the 30's.

Look at that price....$6.75!!!

I also found one of those little wood sewing boxes in the upper left corner many years ago, same exact thing as in this catalog...although I did not pay .89 cents for it!

Now I have a way to display and enjoy looking at my frilly 1950's prom dress!
But she needs a name and I can't decide....it's has to be old fashioned like Lydia or Emily, I had two great Aunt's... Dora and Hilde....still thinking....

Thanks for stopping!
