Gold Rush Days...I finally made it!

I can't tell you how many years I have tried, but failed, to go to the Oronoco Gold Rush days.

Finally, I was home this weekend and the weather was perfect!

I thought it best to take the 'big' truck and I managed to do a pretty good job of filling it up.

I already have a top part of an old hutch with glass window doors but nothing to set it on...this maple dresser with walnut knobs will be just right.

I never expected to find a cubby, let alone one this big...I love it! I'll probably paint it white and hang it vertically on a wall. It's not missing slats, it was made with 3 longer cubbies. On the back is old beadboard.

And I'm always looking for chippy white fence pieces for the garden.

Just the right chair for the garden and a small old bed spring.

Lots of pretty crochet, a satin pink, green and white yoyo pillow and a 1920's ribbonwork hankie holder. Old hand knit baby wool  socks and mittens, 2 beautifully embroidered and spotless table runners. I LOVE the bluebird hanger cover the most and the fine thread crochet doily beneath it.

I HAD to have this white vase, it's fairly large with no markings on the bottom other than 4 numbers, also the cool chippy piece.

Does anyone know anything about this vase? Numbers on bottom are 9357, it measures 10" tall and a little over 9" from leaf tip to leaf tip. 

A pink, blue and white feedsack dress, pristine length of aqua pillow ticking...

A perfectly chippy architectural piece and an old Catherine Klein framed print which was $1 along with what was written on the back...guess the man thought it was only worth asking a dollar for it! Love it!

I've been keeping an eye pealed for this pink gooseberry set for years but at a good price and clean...this one was so I bought it. 

Four iced tea spoons for $1 and a baby spoon for $1 (from the same man as the grape picture)

Two sweet framed prints...

And the Lone Wolf with a wonderfully aged mirror!

I also found 2 very ratty Grandmothers' Flower Garden quilts from the 30's that are only good as cutters at $10 and $15 and a few other small things.

Then...last BUT NOT least....

The Junk Bonanza Gals!

Eydie, on the left, is a friend from about 20 years ago, she owned 2 awesome quilt shops for years but has since moved on to bigger things, one is being part of this awesome group of Junk Bonanza gals. I was so happy to run into her here because I haven't seen her for years. 

Next to her is Jane, then of course, is Ki...Queen of "Junk Bonanza" and on the far right is Pam, another gal I have met  several times at junking events.

It was fun! The show is massive! I had no idea it was so big...after 7 hours I thought I finally covered all of it only to find an entire area I had missed! Of course I had to see what was there too!

Am I going back next year?   Oh Yes!

I had soooo much fun this time!

The Front Porch

Welcome to 'part' of my front porch...

(what you don't see is sort of messy and didn't quite 'make the cut' for the pictures!)

It's definitely not perfect...

There is always stuff falling from the oak trees to sweep up, now it's the acorns.

(check out the garage windows...Mr. Wild used large paper towels as curtains...I HAVE to fix that!

Oh well...at least they are white!)

And I never have enough time to really make it pretty...

a few fresh flowers from the garden...that helps.

Then there are the To Do's....

I was wishing I would find the middle piece but I accidentally found the set of 3 at a flea market this summer for a steal so I grabbed them.

Just waiting for Mr. Wild to help me place some patio stones down, to cover the weeds and make a flat surface.

I think my list is waaay too long because I feel like none of this will ever get done!

And the next project I hope to finish before the weekend.

I found the old wicker chair and footstool at a flea market and garage sale.

I absolutely adore the chair!

(oops...forgot to take the tape measure and stuff off the arm rest)

All I need is some pretty vintage looking fabric to make a seat cushion and a thin padding for the back.  It evidently had a little padded back tied or nailed to it at one time.

The footstool is a reproduction and I will spray paint it canvas white and then apply a little antiquing to it, maybe try to knock a few chips here and there into the new paint, recover it too.

My plan is to get this ready to haul out to Wyoming, it will sit on the porch out there along with a shabby wicker side table I picked up also at a flea market. It will be the perfect place to sit and stitch while sipping a tall glass of iced tea!  Someday!!!! When I can retire! And quit making lists of To Do's!

It looks like I'm about to hit 500 followers! I never dreamed there would be that many wonderful people when I started this blog. I think it's time for a Giveaway!

As much as I LOVE this look (above) I want something that will be easy maintenance as I grow old

unfortunately, logs need to be re chinked and they can be a little leaky if not maintained, I'd rather work on my fun projects than maintenance.

So we have decided on board and batten siding...not quite like this but you get the idea...all we have to do is spray on linseed oil and touch up as needed.

I want exposed rafters underneath the porch roof and the porch floor will be just like this...

I need a few cupboards just like this...

This is our 1948 Montgomery wards stove we purchased a few years ago (steal on Craigslist)...it's in the pole barn and we use it! It will be moved to the bunkhouse kitchen...

(This oven bakes a pizza perfectly even!)

Not THIS fridge but Mr. Wild found 2 1950's refrigerators on Craigslist list that I forgot to get a pic of (the guy would only sell both, not just one...but they were cheap!)

I have a table just like this (cost...$10!). I just need a couple of yellow chairs.

The kitchen cabinets will be white and the kitchen floor will be commercial vinyl tiles, haven't decided on the colors yet...or maybe I'll go with wood? Another thing that I can't decide on!

 I found a sideboard similar to this (cost...$15) that I will paint white and 'shabby up' for the bathroom vanity. I also found a shabby white metal cabinet to set alongside to store towels etc. I have a chippy white painted wood framed mirror to put above the vanity.

I wish I could find some chippy white wood to apply to the wall behind it.

THIS footstool would definitely be cool in a Wyoming bunkhouse!

So there you have it! Too many decisions and my brain is on overload.

I just placed the order for the windows this morning and they will be ready in a few weeks so Mr. Wild can load them up in the trailer and haul them out. Since they are made locally here, we saved a lot.

The plan is....

We build this bunkhouse (cabin)....but in Wyoming I just HAVE to call it a bunkhouse !

It will be a more comfy place to stay when we are out there (instead of the camping trailer we have been using)

When Mr. Wild is ready to retire we will sell our home here, move into the bunkhouse while we build a 'real' home and THIS will become my studio!!! Yee Haw!

At last....a place to call my own where I can make a huge mess with my stuff, shut the door behind me and not care if it stays a mess!

I will have a kitchen for dying wool and lots of cabinets for storage and a fridge for cool drinks.

Mr. Wild already has THIS for his hobby so I do not feel guilty one little bit!

I love the view to the east in springtime...

And a view to the southwest in fall...Wyoming Cowboy Country!

Love it!

The foundation was started yesterday and I will be driving back directly (soon, cowboy slang), I want to be there while the walls go up, so I better 'pony up' (hurry up, cowboy slang) and 'git' out west!

Update, he has the hole dug and poured the concrete foundation...it is just a 4' crawl space for this building...I'm impatiently anxiously waiting for him to email pictures! Yes, a hole in the ground is exciting for me!!!! So is concrete! :) I can't wait...I'm like a little kid with this stuff!!!!

Vintage Finds in Cream, Pink and Green...and a little Blue!

If you love to crochet with fine thread and appreciate the old bedspreads our ancestors made then you are like me...I love to find a good vintage box full of new old stock crochet thread...

This is a gold mine for me!

And even the box is in great shape!

Last Saturday we both felt like taking the day off so we drove south to a river town, had lunch and hit the antique shops.

I've been getting spoiled with garage sale prices lately but I did really well that day!

For some reason when I unpacked everything I saw a color theme, it was all pink, green and cream!

It started with that square pink architectural piece.

I found 4 crochet arm chair doilies for $2 and the crochet pincushion for just a few dollars, it has pink silk ribbon laced through it and in great condition...

I LOVE this lingerie bag... hand made using linen fabric, embroidered and tied with a silk ribbon bow...

This is one of my favorite all time finds. It was marked down from $20 to $15!

Not a single flaw or stain anywhere, just waiting for me to find it.

For a girl who never liked pink, it sure is finding it's way into my home!

A pretty hankie holder for $6. All the ribbon is silk.

I had to get this, I LOVE the color and it was $2! I believe it's a letter holder and it's old and I thought just plain cool. 

I looked at this box last winter but passed it up.

For some reason I had to pick it up this time, I'm sure it was marked less than the last time.

It's shabby but I love the colors. It's covered in paper, looks like wallpaper.

I had no clue what it was but the shop owner said it is a perfume box.

Two days later I regretted not buying the other pink architectural piece so back I went and also found this vintage cloth shoe bag for cheap!  I've been looking for one for some time now.

This has that faded old look which I love, a quick hand wash and pressing will make it even better.

There was one shop we did not go into because they are always too pricey, I went in the on the second trip and found what I've been looking for.

This is the larger size grocer tin marked Loverin & Browne Wholesale Grocers.

This looks to be a gallon size and in beautiful shape, no dents or rust.

I found one last spring at a flea market without a price tag and the guy said $100! What...are you crazy!!! Back on the shelf it went...fast!

This tin was marked $30...more my speed!

I had such a good day, both days...isn't it just so much fun when you come home with some really pretty things and didn't spend a fortune!

They all make me smile when I look at them...the colors are so soothing!
